Some notes and to-do tasks for myself, provided as-is—they may or may not make sense, or be useful, to other people.
To Do
Technical
Fix bullets so that:
- I don't need a space in markdown between the bullet and the "header" above it.
- (Probably via .css) Less space is visible in the HTML between the bullet and the "header" above it.

Info on FamilySearch.org
FamilySearch.org is a genealogy website sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Mormons have conducted extensive research into the genealogical histories of over three billion dead people. They do this because they believe the souls of the dead can be saved via sacred rites conducted by the living. (See "Genealogy is important to Mormons".)
Whatever their motivations, the Mormons have generously made the results of their genealogical research publicly available. This is a treasure trove for home genealogists like myself. The greater part of my adventures in genealogy could never have happened if the the Church hadn't allowed easy access to the U.S. Census data. Sometimes I incorporate this data into my web pages, but other times I simply provide a link to it. You can see the records yourself if you create an account, which involves simply providing your name and an email address. It's easy, it's safe—and it's free.
